  Girl Scout Cookies are the Work of the Devil

  seriously, they masquerade as angels of light, with their dark chocolate minty taste (my personal satan being the thin mint ones) but in reality they are little fiendish wafers of fat and carbohydrates waiting to attack the weak defences of your tastebuds so they can defile the temple of your flesh.

  i think i need an exorcism....or another box of cookies *sigh*

  My father always taught me to buy anything from a child where the money benefits a good cause. Consequently, I purchase at least 1 box from any girl scout that approaches me this time of year. My husband does the same when he's approached, so we end up with cookies to last all year round!

  My husband is a big thin-mint fan, my son loves the peanut butter patties, my daughter is old enough this year to try them, and I'm partial to the shortbread. I will forever mourn the loss of the all time tastiest of the GS cookies, the Scot-Tea (or however it was spelled, they've been gone for years and I sill miss them!).

  I love snow globes though I don't have any myself. I even enjoy looking at the animated snowglobe gifs you can find on line at this time of year. How many do you have and how do you display them?

  I have 300 and change in total, but as for the ones I have permanently on display, those number about 150. I display them in a lighted curio hutch that we had built into the back wall of the basement when we built our house. People who don't know about my collection react with surprise and laughter when they see it for the first time, and are always curious about the history of the pieces and the stories that accompany them (well, I think they're interested, they might just be smiling and not making any sudden moves for fear that the crazy snowdome lady might hurt them if they mock her). I have some that fit all my criteria dating back to the late 1920's that are fabulous, I have a wonderful pair of 60's snowglobe salt and pepper shakers from DC that remain one of my favorite acquisitions, and a new (to me) Niagara Falls early 80's dome with a pencil sharpener glued into the base (with the original price tag on it-$1.85!). Every so often I go downstairs and pull them out and shake them just for the fun of it. I'm sure my children, when they are older, will either arm wrestle eachother to see who gets the collection, or they'll arm-wrestle to see who has to take it when I'm gone.

  As to my husband's Jesus collection, the figurines he has of children playing sports with Jesus are from the collection you mentioned in your post. We saw Conan's parodies of them one night--they were very funny!

  Liquor/Mixed Drink survey

  ok, i've done the beer survey, now its the mixed drinks survey.. i personally like the 4 horseman (1/4 jack 1/4 rum 151, 1/4 everclear, and 1/4 tequila).

  it'll put you on your ass quick.

  i also like a good bull buster (yager w/ red bull).

  Hook me up with a good old seven & seven and I'm a happy girl.

  In collge I was very fond of Absolut Currant and seven.

  As for shots, nothing beats a lemondrop-just like a tequila shooter but swap sugar for the salt, lemon for the lime, and a good cold lemon vodka for the tequila. Which, now that I think about it, is nothing like a tequila shooter save the order of the lick, drink, suck...

  I love reading about other people's collections!

  Personally, I collect cheap, plastic souvenir snowglobes. I have ridiculously stringent rules for what is acceptable for display in my collection (must be snow not glitter, location must be in the dome, must include a feature unique to the location/attraction, etc.) and am thrilled when I find one that I like. I've been collecting since I was a kid, and in the last few years have discovered the secondary ebay market as one of the best places to find new items for my collection. I've been known to spend too much on an item I really like. Wow, when I read it in black and white like this, it a little bit sad, really. But kitschy!

  My husband has a collection of inappropriate, but well intentioned and non-blasphemous (that's an important distinction), images of Jesus. Among his favorites are his Jesus action figure, his porcelain statues of Jesus playing various sports with children, and his velvet painting of Jesus with his arms outstretched over an 18 wheel truck. (I try to make sure I'm at least an arms length away from him when he adds an item to his collection so that the lightning doesn't strike me by mistake...)

  i have always found the topic of blood/hematology, fascinating, and even moreso, the discussions regarding: rh compatibility.. are you rh negative?

  if so, do you know your alpha designation: o, a, b, or ab ?.

  even if someone is not interested, nor willing to take a blood transfusion, if you are a woman, and you are rh negative, and your husband/partner is rh positive, you can bet your bottom dollar, it'll matter in the near future.

  We're talking RH incidence and statistics, not reptiles or space aliens.

  I'm not disputing the validity of the RH incidence statistics listed on the site, they could very well be absolutely, 100% valid. The fact that they may be correct doesn't diminish the silliness of the surrounding information at all, and I thought citing those statistics from such a source of questional credibility was funny, and that's what got me laughing.

  Surely, Sara Annie, you don't think anyone would take the reptilian part seriously do you?

  Actually, I have no doubt the author and at least a few other people on the planet take the reptilian part quite seriously. Never underestimate the power of a ridiculous idea to take hold of the hearts and minds of people willing to believe it. After all, without that phenomenon, none of us would be here posting, would we?

  I brought up the site to read the Rh incidence in the Basque people and sort of skipped over the reptilian part. There is more about the Rh factor on down in the article. Just skip over the reptile part.

  I went on a blind date once. Well, to be honest, I didn't know it was a blind date--I thought I was just going to dinner with some friends, and they were also bringing another friend of theirs along...

  Nearly 10 years and 2 kids later, I'd say it worked out pretty well.

  Micheal Jackson's Kids/Mixed Heritage

  i just wanted to clear something up about micheal's kids being biracial since i see people commenting on it a lot on this board and others.

  fyi, mixed kids don't always come out looking mixed.

  sometimes a mixed child will come out looking black, and not white at all.

  Yes, there are numerous iterations of skin color in bi-racial children. Yes, vitiligo is a real disease.

  It's still more likely, in my opinion, that those children were taken from neglected strollers at Toys 'R Us than that they were fathered by that horror of a man.

  I'm A-, my husband is A+.

  While pregnant with my first child, I had the rho-gam injection so that any future preganancies wouldn't be at risk due to the rh difference. No big deal.

  The WT stance on blood is so darn silly it's difficult to discuss. It's impossible to logically refute irrational policy.
